Purity Karimi Gikunda

A Beacon of Hope and Empowerment in Kenya

Purity Gikunda [CEO of Greenland Group of Girls Schools] is a trained former social worker who has dedicated her life to empowering teenage mothers since 2020. She co-founded Greenland Girls School in Kajiado County, a secondary school specifically to cater for the needs of teen mothers in the area, to provide them with a second chance in education, teach them life skills, and offer them emotional support. The school has changed the narrative for many girls, in the sense that it has helped them to overcome the social stigma associated with teen pregnancy, thereby enabling young women to continue their education, many of whom have risen to become self-sufficient members of society. Purity's ultimate goal is to establish a school for teen mothers in each of the 47 counties of Kenya, and her dream is to establish Greenland University for Teen Mothers in the near or not-so-far future.
